Hometown…
Gloversville in upstate New York
Always in my luggage…
My Canon 7D; it’s never far from my side and always with me on a trip. I should also add a funny anecdote: I often travel with my own tea. Once you’ve lived in England, you become a tea snob and so, specialty teas are also in my bag when I travel.

3 favorite home-away-from-home places…

  1. basking in the sun on a boat on any lake in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York
  2. Cape Town South Africa for its delicious seafood, wine and views that can quiet any soul
  3. London England, where I lived for a stint—part of my heart remains in the city’s architecture and sense of humor.

A favorite travel memory is…

Flying through tall grass in northern India on the back of an elephant; having the grass wisp my face as the elephant makes his way through briskly and the sun warming my face as I breathe it all in.

3 favorite travel brands…
I don’t have 3 “favorites” and there may be other brands I even use more, but a few that come to mind are Canon for its more easy to navigate system, Travel & Leisure because it speaks to me, and Kayak because it often saves me time.

3 money-saving travel tactics I use are…

  1. book off-season & be flexible about your flight dates
  2. use curation tools to get the best price & shop around
  3. don’t be afraid to not just negotiate, but negotiate even lower than you normally would by offering something of value to them in return (this is obviously more relevant for an offline situation).

3 ways that I have fun while traveling are…

  1. Nature & people PHOTOGRAPHY
  2. Discovering FOOD – there’s nothing like sampling creatively prepared spices and dishes from different cultures
  3. EXPLORING new neighborhoods, meandering my way through small alleys and nooks and crannies without a map.

8 word (or less) travel mantra…
I have many of these, but here’s a great one to abide by: The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity – Leo Tolstoy
I am fortunate to have met …
Lady Diana when she was still alive, Al Gore, Former South African President DeKlerk, Richard Branson, Richard Dreyfuss, Goldie Hawn, former president of Ireland Mary Robinson, Iceland’s president Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, Tony Robbins, Freeman Dyson, former president of France Nicolas Sarkozy, Herbie Hancock, Tony Bennett, and many more—ahhh so many miraculous moments and memories. I’m grateful every day.
